KICK-OFF MEETING TO IMPLEMENT RESETTLEMENT ACTION PLAN OF THE DOWNSTREAM WELLS ACTIVITY WAS HELD

A kick-off meeting to implement the Resettlement Action Plan for the Downstream Wells Activity under the Ulaanbaatar Water Supply Project was successfully held at the Great Hall of the Citizen’s Representative Khural in Khangardi Palace. MCA-Mongolia’s Deputy CEO S.Zorigt said,  “An Implementing Entity Agreement was signed between MCA-Mongolia and the Ulaanbaatar city’s Land Management Department to implement the Resettlement Action Plan. It is crucial to complete the land acquisition work before construction begins.” in his opening remarks.

“SOUM DEVELOPMENT: PROVISION OF ENGINEERING INFRASTRUCTURE” PROJECT IS TO BE IMPLEMENTED IN 59 SOUMS

The project “Soum Development: Provision of Engineering Infrastructure” will be implemented to provide soums with engineering infrastructure and create comfortable living conditions for citizens. Within the framework, infrastructure works will be implemented in 59 soums of 19 aimags. The soums were selected based on their population, geographical location, socio-economic development, environmental vulnerability, land capacity, water supply sources, and water resources, according to the government's press office. It is planned to provide up to 40 percent of buildings, facilities, and households in soum centers, 31,000 people of 7,800 households, with adequate drinking water, waste-water treatment, and recycling system, heat, and hot-water with centralized networks, by 2024 within the scope of the project. The aim is to reduce migration, create comfortable living conditions in soums, and create a friendly environment to develop micro-household production. The project requires 238 billion MNT and will be financed annually from the state budget, foreign loans, and aid.

“IMPLEMENTING WATER GOVERNANCE IN INNOVATIVE WAYS “ PROJECT IS SUCCESSFULLY BEING IMPLEMENTED

Within the scope of the memorandum of understanding signed between The Ministry of Environment and Tourism and Asian Development Bank, a project “Implementing Water Governance in Innovative Ways” is ongoing successfully. In this context, "Model Project of Artificial Aquifer Recharge" is being implemented in the Baganuur district which belongs to the Kherlen River basin for the first time in Mongolia. Kherlen River Basin Administration’s specialist G.Munkhtsog is not only conducting monitoring on the borehole drilling and equipment installation but also received training and workshops related to software operation along with required tools.

  • D.Sumyabazar, the Mayor of Ulaanbaatar and the Governor of the Capital City, met with representatives of the Mayor's Office, including the Department of Geodesy and Water Construction (DGWC), and the City Landscaping Department. During the meeting, L.Ariuntuya, the head of the DGWC, introduced the mainline of duty, activities, and challenges of the organization. She further asked for the support of the Capital City Governor to solve the challenges including much-needed investment, shortage of machinery, workers' salary increase for social security.
