Representatives of 17 companies take part in the Pre-Bid Conference for Procurement for the Supply and Installation of Ger Area Smart Water Kiosk Upgrade

[Ulaanbaatar city, May 12, 2022] – MCA-Mongolia successfully organized a virtual Pre-Bid Conference for the procurement of Supply and Installation of Ger Area Smart Water Kiosk Upgrade on May 12, 2022, one of the key components of the Water Sector Sustainability Activity under the Mongolia Water Compact.

Representatives of 17 international and local companies participated in the conference. The aim of the Pre-Bid Conference was to provide presentations on the works to be performed under the contract, explain the procurement process, and provide bidders with an opportunity to ask questions directly related to the bidding documents.

At the beginning of the conference, L.Unurjargal, Director, Sustainability, MCA-Mongolia presented on the objective and the scope of the Supply and Installation of Ger Area Smart Water Kiosk Upgrade project and provided key technical information.

Other presentations provided during the conference covered information on the important aspects of procurement process, guidance on how to submit a compliant bid and other information related to environmental, health and safety procedures, tax exemption, payment and audit as well as MCC's Anti-Fraud and Corruption Policy.

After the presentations, the conference continued with a Q&A session. To ensure the transparency and fairness of the procurement process, all participants were informed that the PowerPoint Presentations, Minutes of the Meeting, and Q&A Document from the Pre-Bid Conference will be published on MCA-Mongolia’s website and sent to all registered bidders.

Prior to the pre-bid conference, on May 11, 2022, a site visit for the procurement of Supply and Installation of Ger Area Smart Water Kiosk Upgrade was also organized. The visit began at the headquarters of the Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (USUG) and was followed by visits to different types of water kiosks located in the 2nd and 21st khoroos of Bayanzurkh district and the 16th khoroo of Sukhbaatar district. Representatives from 11 companies participated in the site visit.

The Government of Mongolia and the U.S. Millennium Challenge Corporation signed the $350 million Mongolia Water Compact on July 27, 2018. The Compact is funding major infrastructure projects, including the construction of new wellfields and two large plants - an Advanced Water Purification Plant and Wastewater Recycling Plant which will be the first of their kind in Mongolia. In addition, the Compact will invest in policy measures to create a financially and environmentally sustainable future for the water sector of Ulaanbaatar. By 2026, the water system in Ulaanbaatar will have been expanded to deliver 80% more drinking water, allowing for the city’s future expansion.
